This week we review the study just released by MEC's global market research sibling, Millward Brown Optimor, BrandZ Top 100 Most Powerful Brands Global Study. Specifically, the 3rd annual BrandZ report estimates that the combined "brand value" of all top 100 brands analyzed increased to a substantial total of $1.94 trillion for 2008, reflecting a +21.3% growth from the $1.60 trillion reported in 2007 (or more than 2X the increase resulting from 2006 vs. 2007 study (+10.6%)). Among the Top 5 global brands leading the list are Google who remains at the top of the chart again with a calculated brand value of $86.1 billion (+30% change vs. YAG), followed by GE at $71.4 billion (+15% change vs. YAG), Microsoft at $70.9 billion (+29% change vs. YAG), Coca Cola at $58.2 billion (+17% change vs. YAG), & China Mobile at $57.2 billion (+39% change vs. YAG).
