In order to better understand the potential impact to total TV audience viewing levels as a result of the DTV transition mandated next February 2009, it will also be important to identify the amount & origin of viewing to TV sets that are currently not ready for the DTV transition today so we can gauge the dynamic effects throughout the conversion period (or 8.5 months from now). Subsequently, this week we review the digital television readiness of U.S. households at the national levels & in local markets; and, identify which demography + factors that are most likely to be currently impacted (Source: Nielsen Media Research, May 2008).
