Mediaedge:cia attracts
specialist talent
23 June 2008 - MEC has made three high-level appointments, boosting the expertise of MEC Access - the agency's specialist entertainment, sports and cause marketing business.
With these latest appointments, MEC Access has attracted some the industry's most respected music, sports and research talent. Rupert Leigh joins as head of music partnerships, to consult and develop brands on music marketing strategies across MEC's European client base. His career has already seen him work at ChannelFly for brands such as Carling, Virgin Mobile and Jack Daniels, and most recently Leigh was European marketing director for Hard Rock International.
MEC Access has also attracted Malcolm Mizen from leading sports research company, TNS Sport, to become research and insight director. In his new role, Mizen will be responsible for the development and application of research tools for MEC Access and specifically helping clients to improve their decision-making process and return on investment across the entire sponsorship arena.
Gordon Tannock joins as account director and will be the MEC Access lead heading up MEC Access' Visa account across Europe, working with the brand's global sponsorship of the Beijing 2008 Olympics amongst other International partnerships. Tannock joins from LeoSports, Leo Burnett's specialist sports marketing division, where he was sports marketing director.
Leigh, Mizen and Tannock will all report to Julian Yeomans, head of MEC Access, Global Solutions.
Commenting on the appointments, Julian Yeomans said: "There is no other media agency that can match the skills, knowledge, expertise and global network of MEC Access. We are completely unique in marketplace and continuing to attract such high calibre ensures we stay head and shoulders above the competition.
"In Malcolm, Rupert and Gordon we have the best talent in each of their areas. They are setting the standards for others to follow and I am excited that they have chosen MEC as the place to realise their future success."
